TASTING NOTE: 2008 Bridgman Cabernet Sauvignon

Price: $14.99 at Total Wine
Region: Columbia Valley, Washington
Sight: deep garnet
Smell: highly aromatic, plum, cherry, kirsch
Taste: black cherry, blueberry, plum, milk chocolate, full-bodied
Overall: ATTENTION: QPR BONANZA! This wine is GORGEOUS. First of all, before I even tasted it, I just couldn’t stop smelling it. Rich, intense cherry, muscular dark fruit, spiked milk chocolate…truly intoxicating. This is one of the first wines in a while where I just was completely romanced by the aromatics and got so distracted that I almost didn’t get to the tasting part. The beauty carries through to the palate. The chocolate plays a bass note as rich, plush, dark, velvety fruits saturate the palate. The tannins provide structure without aggression and are actually quite tender. I could not believe how good this wine was for ONLY $15. (Are you listening?) If you’re looking for a smooth and supple Cabernet that doesn’t compromise on power, it’s right in front of you. Go get a Bridgman. You can thank me later.
